RESOURCEFUL MAPS
Maps of Voyageurs National Park are a great way to see what there is to do while visiting. The National Geographic map is an overall good map to view where the campsites are and what other points of interest there is in and around Rainy Lake, Kabetogama, Namakan, Crane and Sandpoint lakes. This map also has a short description of all the campsites and houseboat sites. It is very helpful in planning either your boat, hiking, canoe or kayaking tour on the lakes in Voyageurs National Park. It also shows the hiking opportunities in the interior of Voyageurs National Park. It should be cautioned that this map should not be used for navigational purposes. One should always carry the navigational charts with them when navigating the waters of Voyageurs National Park.
Boat tours are a great way to see the park in the summer time and require a good navigational chart or an experienced captain. Do not rely on GPS navigation alone as it can fail and leave you stranded amongst the islands and bays which encompass Voyageurs National Park. Taking a tour with an experienced captain is a relaxing, stress free way to see the sites, wildlife, and hear some history on the people and things that have shaped the region over the last 10,000 years. Treat yourself to a relaxing boat tour aboard one of our vessels and sit back and enjoy.
Any of the local bait shops or resorts can supply you with good maps. The National Geographic map can be purchased at the Rainy Lake, Kabetogama, and Ash River Visitor’s centers as well as online. Beware of online maps as some of them may be outdated and obsolete. When in doubt call us or call the NPS for information on the appropriate maps. Call us today to book your boat tour and leave the driving to us. Make the most out of your time by hiring an experienced captain.
